Philosophy:
I believe by human nature at the very core we all seek acceptance and connection. Be it connection to self, connection to others. We are relational beings, continuously learning and adapting to our environments, doing the best we can in any given moment. My approach to therapy is grounded in the principles of mindfulness which carry the attributes of non-judging, patience, curiosity with a beginner’s mind, trust, non-striving, acceptance and letting go of what no longer serves us well. I draw upon evidence-based therapeutic modalities with a trauma-informed lens to support my clients for what brings them in to counselling.
There is a quote by an ancient Persian Poet by the name of Hafiz that I came across during my journey as a graduate student which continues to deeply resonate for me. This quote, for me, speaks to why I choose the work I do each and every day:
“I wish I could show you when you are lonely or in darkness the astonishing light of your own being”.
So many of us have had moments in our lives where we have experienced loneliness, disconnect, sadness, isolation, hopelessness, helplessness, confusion, overwhelm whether for a brief moment or more. This is human, we can all relate to some degree, and yet many of us have a difficult time expressing, reaching out for help, or knowing where to turn during these moments. My purpose, at my core, is to offer each client a safe, warm, accepting space for sharing, for healing, for learning and growth/transformation, while sitting along-side to witness and support each of them in their individual process through their own unique journeys. I offer practical tools and strategies with process-oriented modalities including:
Modalities:
- MBCT – Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy
- MSC – Mindfulness Self-Compassion
- Narrative Therapy
- CBT – Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
- Gottman Method
Fun Fact About Shahinoor:
One of the most terrifying and spectacularly mesmerizing adventures Shahinoor has been on to date was ziplining across two miles (12 platforms) of mountain ranges in the tropical forests of the Dominican Republic.

Treatment Specialities: One of my passions is parents with parenting struggles, whatever the age of their child. My background has offered me parenting coaching experiences for ages 0 to 14. I love educating parents on healthy expectations of their children, so ultimately, they feel more competent and successful in positively disciplining their children. We sometimes parent the way we were parented, without the intention of doing it exactly the same way. But without a deeper understanding of what to do differently, you may feel lost. That is completely normal and you are certainly not alone.
A couple of my strengths is being genuinely empathetic to your situation while using humour to remember some fun strategies moving forward. Life can get serious, the work to change ourselves doesn’t always have to be.

Philosophy: During life transitions, people need a safe space to gain greater insight into their concerns, explore different ways of navigating life challenges, and learn new coping strategies to
become more resilient. I create a safe space by being non-judgmental, genuine, and empathetic. I genuinely care about my client’s well-being, am relatable and easy to talk to, and am passionate about seeing people meet their personal and professional goals. Philosophy
I am grateful to have landed in a line of work where I have the privilege of hearing others’ insight and wisdom about life, as well as stories of hardship, triumph and survival. I am always amazed by clients’ courage to be vulnerable in the face of adversity; as well as their perseverance in taking steps towards well-being for both themselves and others. Change is definitely not easy; but fortunately, we don’t have to do it alone! In my work, I empower people to tap into their innate wisdom, knowledge, skills, and experience to bring about meaningful and lasting change in their lives; offering my own experience, knowledge, tools, and wisdom, when helpful.
I support people in tuning into their body’s messages, which can help bridge the gap between mind and body, fostering healing and well-being. I use a variety of approaches in my work (e.g. art, movement, play – yes, play is important for adults too!) as I believe that talk therapy is not for everyone.
In working with families, I believe that every family has conflict; however when conflict is frequent, and heightened, it can be helpful to seek support. Together, we focus on identifying the patterns that lead to conflict in the family unit and find ways to interrupt these patterns and strengthen patterns that promote well-being.

This is why I strive to establish a trusting relationship by providing a safe environment for you to feel less isolated and for you to freely express your true self without the fear of judgment. I see therapy as a partnership between you and I, where I’m never above you but instead walk beside you as you search for greater clarity and meaning. Let me help you discover what’s causing you pain so you can find a way to heal and find purpose in your life.

Biography:
Victoria’s philosophy surrounding her approach to physiotherapy stems greatly from her personal experience, as a patient herself when she was a child. The care she received when she was younger, was unfortunately not patient centered, collaborative, empowering, or respectful of body autonomy – and this led her to drop out of rehab and ultimately the high-level sport Victoria was competing in at the time. As Victoria decided her career path as an adult, and landed on physiotherapy she knew this experience had to shape the care provider she would be. Hence, her mission with clients is to make them feel everything she didn’t. Victoria wants patients to know that she is there to support them, but also make them feel empowered with knowledge to help themselves beyond their appointment. Victoria wants patients to feel as though they are part of the process, and treatments will always be guided by their goals and respectful of their personal comfort level. If you work together she aims to always make you feel heard, and comfortable and from there Victoria believes you can almost always achieve the goals you are hoping to work towards.
Fun Fact:
One reason I chose to be a physiotherapist is because I LOVE to work with my hands. But when I am not getting this fill at work I fiddle at home, and have taught myself to learn almost any craft that I’ve ever been interested in. I can hand embroider, sew, wood carve, make soap or lotions, grow a cut flower garden from seed, have renovated my entire house and built an outdoor greenhouse with my husband, share a home pottery studio with my in-laws, and the list goes on.

Biography
I became a massage therapist in 2018 because I wanted to make a positive change in this world. I wanted a career where I could help people feel healthy and able to continue doing the things that they love.
Over the last couple of years, I have been trained in **sports massage, myofascial remodeling, cupping, and prenatal massage.** I have had mentors from several different backgrounds varying between extreme deep tissue, therapeutic sports massage to the quiet craniosacral approach. Within my practice, I prefer incorporating all of my backgrounds to fit the specific reason my client is coming in.
As an athlete, I know firsthand how debilitating injuries can be and how some symptoms never seem to go away. I use my experience from past injuries to help me understand where my clients are at and to formulate more sustainable treatment plans.
When I’m not helping others heal you can find me exploring the outdoors with my two kids and our two pugs!
I look forward to seeing you in my treatment room!

Biography
I have always been a very active person, from my years as a National level competitive swimmer, to now being a CrossFit junkie. Years ago, when I was still swimming, I got a terrible back injury which started my love for self-care. Going for massages was what helped me the most to heal from my injury, which is what made me want to become a massage therapist myself. After doing some yoga teacher trainings, I went to school for massage therapy and received my honours diploma in January 2020 from the Alberta Institute of Massage. In August of 2021, my husband and I decided to move from our hometown Medicine Hat to the big city of Edmonton! We have been loving it and decided to call the city home.
I absolutely love being a massage therapist. I love being able to help my clients every day and see how much better they feel after their treatments. I very much believe in a multidisciplinary approach to healing, and I want to be able to help my clients with a proper treatment plan to get them back to feeling their best. I have special interest in prenatal and postnatal massage, and I have taken further courses to become a birth doula. I also very often treat clients with neck and shoulder pain, back pain, sciatic pain, and am able to provide therapeutic treatments, deep tissue, or relaxation massage.

Why did you choose Speech-Language Pathology?
I began University with the intention of becoming a Pharmacist but quickly realized it wasn’t going to be a fulfilling career for me. Heading into my third year of my undergraduate degree, I started to explore the idea of becoming an SLP and did some volunteer work/clinical observations of an SLP in my hometown. Observing my very first session behind the two-way mirror, my heart and soul lit on fire! I knew that I had found the career that would never feel like work. I pursued Speech-Language Pathology from that moment on and have never looked back!
What ages of clients do you treat?
I have extensive experience working with school-aged children; however, I love working with kids of all ages and have also recently discovered joy working with young adults who are interested in improving their speech and/or oral rest posture.
Learn more about Erica
I received my Bachelor of Science from the University of Alberta in 2008 and immediately pursued my Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology, graduating in early 2011 from the Thesis-track. Since that time, I have worked in a variety of preschools, schools, and families’ homes with children aged 2-18. It is such a joy to work with families, building strong connections and getting to witness the excitement and pride that comes when communication breakthroughs are made. I truly feel so blessed to be entrusted with your loved ones and am grateful for every family that walks through my door. My goal is to make speech therapy fun, functional and engaging for your family!
When not at work, you will find me spending time with my husband and 2 children (4 & 6.5). We love to build Lego, swim, take family walks and explore our community playgrounds. I also love to read, take dance class, travel, and spend time with extended family and close friends.

She now focuses on drawing on her 13+ years of expertise to offer respectful, evidence-based and practical solutions to all types of breastfeeding and infant nutrition challenges while centering families and their goals.
She has provided mentorship and teaching to physicians, nurses, SLPs, physiotherapists etc. in all areas of breastfeeding and infant nutrition. With significant clinical expertise and additional training in areas such as milk production, infant oral structures (ex: tongue and lip ties), choosing and using feeding tools, infant reflexes and neurobiology and development, she is here to guide you along your feeding journey (sometimes one baby step at a time).
Julia is proud member of several professional organizations such as the Institute for the Advancement of Breastfeeding and Lactation Education, International Lactation Consultant Association, Canadian Lactation Consultant Association, International Association of Tongue Tie Professionals and La Leche League Canada.
She thoroughly enjoys continuing education and keeping her skills up to date. Highlights include: spending time in Portland, Oregon with Dr Bobby Ghaheri at his ENT clinic and attending the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine Conference in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
Closer to home, she was trained directly by Dr Alison Hazelbaker as a validator and assessor using the Hazelbaker Assessment Tool for Lingual Frenulum Function (HATLFF) through the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Calgary in 2018-2019. This tool is now used as part of the AHS South-Zone Ankyloglossia Protocol in assessment and treatment of infants with oral restrictions (aka Tongue Ties and/or Lip Ties
When she is not working, she is trying to keep up with her two active kids in the Mill Creek ravine, enjoying a third cup of coffee or doting on her many (but never too many) houseplants!

Senior Administrative Assistant/ Office Manager
Jessica was drawn to Pine for being a single location that offers an interdisciplinary and holistic approach for care, beautifully packaging support for the body and mind for all. You may know her as one of the lovely voices and smiling faces you see when you arrive to our clinic, or for her quick email replies. She currently helps to manage many of the behind-the-scenes operations of the Forest.
She, alongside the brilliant mind of Laura Bryant make up the ‘Mitochondria of Pine’. Together they strive to optimize the delivery of care from our diversely talented providers and welcoming front-end admin team, to support the health needs of our wonderful clients.
Jessica has always had a passion for understanding and exploring the intricate connectivity and complexity of the human body. After completing a degree in Biology and Science Psychology, she realized her passion for working hands-on in health care, to make a direct impact on an individual’s life through nursing.
Currently, Jessica is a Registered Nurse working in Women’s Health and Postpartum. By working with and learning from the invaluable family at Pine, Jessica hopes to bring the knowledge she has gained to the bedside. Ensuring that each individual she encounters feels respected, cared for, while being appropriately educated, empowered and advocated for, in order for them to play an active role in their healing journey.
Jessica understands that her patients’ health and wellbeing extend beyond their physical diagnosis and that working to promote all aspects of health are key for delivering optimal care.
Jessica has a quirky sense of humour and is passionate about forming genuine connections with both the clients and staff within the Pine Community. She understands that each person plants a seed within the Pine Forest, with their own story and unique needs.

Health and wellness are at the forefront of my priorities for myself, as well as others. I am currently finishing up school at the University of Alberta to become a recreation therapist, wanting to work with individuals with disabilities, as well as vulnerable populations. I have worked at the U of A as a teaching assistant and have also volunteered as a leisure companion with the Brain Care Centre. Working in an interdisciplinary health and wellness-oriented environment such as Pine has made me aware of the complexities and variations of people’s well-being, as well as the many ways we can assist them in reaching their goals!

In my spare time, I enjoy going to the gym, cooking, and going on walks.

I am currently majoring in Sociology at the University of Alberta and have loved taking classes to expand my knowledge on Psychology!

Administrative Assistant
I am a 3rd year kinesiology student at the University of Alberta. I am also currently volunteering with the Program for Pregnancy and Postpartum Health at the University of Alberta. I have a passion for women’s health throughout their lifespan, especially pregnancy, the postpartum period, endometriosis, and pelvic health. As such, I hope to be in medical school, learning to become a doctor and then further specializing in gynecology/obstetrics. In the meantime, I love working at Pine, it truly is a wonderful place to be. The interdisciplinary approach to health inspires me, as numerous modalities can converge in one place, making it more accessible to people who want to explore all that Pine has to offer. Overall, I learn something new every day regarding the topic of health and wellbeing, and plan to take everything I’ve learned to put into practice at Pine, university and (hopefully) one day as a doctor.

Mental wellness and a healthy body has always been a priority for me, so after gaining my Medical Office Assistant Certificate it made sense for me to work at a place like Pine that creates safe places for people to heal and grow in their own wellness journeys. But when im not at Pine im usually on walks with my dog Jasper or adding the newest tattoo to what i call “my collection”.
