Pelvic floor physiotherapists are trained to treat the muscles of the pelvic floor, and do this by working on mobility of the tissues, strengthening of the muscles, helping with pain reduction, teaching of gentle stretches, breathing techniques, etc. Some of the conditions/symptoms that can be treated with pelvic floor physiotherapy include: Stress and urge urinary incontinence (urine leakage with laughing, coughing, sneezing, exercise, as well as leakage associated with an urge to urinate), urinary urgency and frequency, pelvic pain, diastasis recti, prenatal & birth preparation, vaginal and cesarean postpartum recovery, pelvic organ prolapse, constipation, low back & hip pain, painful intercourse (dyspareunia), post-surgery (I.e. hysterectomy, excision surgeries, hernia surgeries, etc)
