Philosophy With Adults
My aim is always to validate a client’s current experience, and normalize it! Our struggles are often experienced by many but in a world where we are only starting to open up to each other, it is all too easy to feel completely alone. Using a client-centered approach, I strive to help clients clarify their values and goals and work towards them with mindfulness and self-compassion. You are the expert on your life, and I have the privilege of working alongside you on your journey. I welcome clients of any race, ethnicity, faith, sexual orientation, gender identify, and ability, and aim to meet everyone with compassion. It’s likely that at some point, we’ll talk about how you’re feeling and your relationship to those feelings. If you’re not up for that, I am probably not the right fit for you! I am continually working on being direct (while still gentle!) in sessions, and love when clients and I can share a laugh amid all the difficult, scary and crazy hard things they have come to talk about.
Philosophy With Children
I make a lot of slime. We create art. We play. Throughout all of that, we also talk about the hard stuff. I meet kiddos where they are at, which means that some kiddos naturally take longer before we are able to really dive into the hard stuff. I try very hard to maintain good communication with parents, and find we have the most success when parents are able to follow up with strategies at home and are open to chatting with me about changes they could make. I am a fellow parent so I do have firsthand knowledge of how difficult parenting is!
