We do not.
A step-parent is a part of the child's village, but does not have legal rights to information. If both legal guardian's consent to step parents involvement and release of information, the practitioner is able to accommodate.
Yes we require consent from both guardians or court documentation.

It all varies and is age dependent. If working with preschool, parents are involved. As child grows older, varying needs around child's autonomy & privacy can play a key part in therapeutic progress.
Parental involvement is a wonderful asset and support but is dependent on the age of the child. Every practitioner addresses this differently but values parents & child's different needs. Please have a conversation with your practitioner.
